Fire Department Responder Equipment

The Fire Department utilizes various pieces of equipment in the process of doing their job. Below are descriptions of the equipment used to help keep the community safe:

  • Freightliner “Pierce” Pumper: This is a pumper unit which usually carries 1000 gallons of water, and can pump 1250 gpm. The primary task of a the crew is to search, rescue, locate, confine and extinguish fire. When warranted, the crew also responds to 9-1-1 medical incidents.
  • Chevy Quick Response Truck: This truck has a 300-gallon tank and 370 gpm pump skid unit with a foam induction system for flammable fluids fires.  It goes to every emergency call, and carries medical equipment, AED, and first-aid supplies.
  • Hahn Pumper: This truck has a 600-gallon tank and a 1250 gpm pump.
  • Jeep 1- 1/4 ton Heavy-Duty Truck:  450-gallon tank with 370 gpm pump
  • 1986 Chevy 1 1/4 Brush Truck:  300-gallon with 250 gpm pump

Members of The Fire and Rescue Department provide dependable service in a responsible fashion, while showing care and compassion for those in need. The Department protects lives, property, and the environment through fire suppression, rescue, disaster preparedness, fire prevention, and first-responder care.  Members of the department are professional, supportive, and responsive to the needs of the residents of Sand Rock.

The Fire Department recently received a FEMA grant in the amount of $209,000, which will be used to purchase a new engine to replace the 1982 Hahn fire engine.
